The cheesesteak was created in 1930 by hot dog vendor Pat Olivieri. According to legend, a taxi driver was the one who initially asked for the variation. And, after tasting it, advised Olivieri to stop concentrating on hot dogs. And instead, concentrate on steak sandwiches. The cheesesteak has developed into a distinct attraction today.
