The USA has an amazing network of cycling and mountain bike trails spread out over the entire nation, in both urban and rural areas, and on every type of terrain imaginable. In all major cities, you can rent bikes, many of which are available through bike-share stations. Whether for an hour, an afternoon, or the entire day, renting bikes is a fantastic way to explore a city (particularly in the summer). View the riding options in five states in the United States below.
Illinois
Located in Alton, Illinois, about 40 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri, the 35-kilometer Sam Vadalabene Great River Road Bike Trail meanders alongside the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers and through Pere Marquette State Park.
Ohio cycling destination
The Little Miami Scenic Trail and the 2,300-kilometer Buckeye Trail, which circles the state starting near Cleveland and passing through the picturesque Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Hocking Hills region, are just two of the wonderful places to go riding in Ohio.
Oregon
Oregon, with its cutting-edge and artistically diversified Scenic Bikeways Programme, which directs visitors between the state’s top attractions on a bike, is another fantastic location for cyclists. Check out the Gorge 400 Trail in Hood River, Oregon, as well as the Deschutes River Trail, which are both renowned for their difficult terrain and untamed beauty.
Cycling destination Maine
It also offers fantastic off-roading opportunities at the Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park, as well as on the trails and trials of Maine’s 15 state parks and the Rail Trails, multi-day excursions along former railway lines converted into recreational trails. Maine is a road-rider’s dream because of its picturesque rural back roads.
California
Who could resist a gorgeous drop in Napa Valley? California Cycling enthusiasts would be crazy to miss a guided bike tour down California’s wonderful coastline or through wine country.
